Oakleigh Primary School And Kindergarten Melbourne is affiliated to Australian Curriculum curriculum. As an independent private organisation, our aim at SchoolMyKids is to help all parents and school seekers get a great education for their kids. We believe that every parent needs reliable information in order to ensure a good school for their child. Through our ratings, we intend to help parents with a better understanding of school quality. We are continually working with various stakeholders to acquire more school data for schools across the world. Children come together again from across the centre to enjoy age-appropriate, planned experiences.
If children would like to, or need to, there’s an opportunity to sleep, rest or relax. If children don’t need to rest, our Flying Start to School learning program continues, where they can enjoy our outdoor space – this might include playing games in a group or working together on a construction project. There will be opportunities for children and families to take part in our excursion program.
Decide whether a standalone sessional kindergarten (often term-time only) or a funded program within a long day care centre better suits your working hours. Choosing the right early years setting is one of the most important decisions a parent makes. Factors like NQS ratings, EYLF curriculum delivery, safeguarding policies, staff-to-child ratios, and the overall nurturing environment all impact your child’s daily experience. Here is what Imagine Childcare & Kindergarten Oakleigh South has to offer. At C&K Oakleigh Community Kindergarten, your child will feel safe, make friends and belong. We have an open natural learning environment where the children explore, investigate, and extend their learning.

Under the NQF, at least 50% of educators must hold or be actively working towards an approved Diploma level early childhood qualification, while all other educators must hold at least a Certificate III. Centres must also employ a bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) based on the number of children. Centres require children to wear hats and apply sunscreen before going outside, and outdoor play areas must have adequate shade. Being outside also gives children the chance to connect with nature, learn about sustainability (such as tending to centre veggie gardens or worm farms), and experience the freedom of open-air play.

Importantly, Australian centres must have robust food safety protocols in place. With anaphylaxis being a serious concern, many centres operate as nut-free environments. When touring a centre, ask to see their allergy action plans and how they communicate daily menu changes for children with specific dietary needs. When visiting, ask about the centre’s track record with supporting neurodivergent children. Ask how they provide inclusive resources-such as sensory areas or visual schedules.
For parents, this means that the nursery will always have a high concentration of educators, ensuring a safe, responsive environment when you drop off your child. In Australia, early childhood  safeguarding is governed by strict National Regulations. A foundational requirement is that every single educator, cook, and administrator holds a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Furthermore, reputable services mandate ongoing training in child protection, CPR, and allergy management to ensure children are protected at all times. Furthermore, parents with four-year-olds may also benefit from state-based preschool funding. Programs like Queensland’s Free Kindy or NSW’s Start Strong provide additional financial support for children in the year before formal schooling.
Choosing the right program involves evaluating your child’s capacity for structured time, your family’s schedule, and the level of convenience and flexibility required. Ward Avenue Kindergarten provides centre-based care for up to 30 approved spaces. Guardian Childcare & Education respects and honours the Traditional Custodians of the land we work on and explore each day.
